How do I stop Firebase users from reading another user's data?

Use Firebase Authentication to establish identity and Security Rules to enforce access for client SDK requests. Model ownership or organization membership explicitly, then test allowed and denied requests with the Local Emulator Suite. Server SDKs bypass Firestore Security Rules, so backend code also needs authorization checks and appropriate IAM permissions.

Design event handlers to be idempotent because event-driven functions can receive the same event more than once. Store processing identifiers or use transactional state changes where appropriate. For external actions, such as sending messages, check the provider's idempotency support. Also review retry behavior, concurrency, timeout settings, and failure visibility.
