About NextGen Coding Company

NextGen Coding Company is an onshore software engineering and staffing firm based in New York City. This page covers who we are, how we're structured, and why we've stayed onshore instead of following the industry into offshore delivery — the answer isn't ideological, and the tradeoffs cut in specific directions.

// our story

Our story

The firm was started by engineers who had spent years watching mid-market NYC financial and professional services companies buy software services from three kinds of vendor and be disappointed by all three: Big 4 advisory shops that priced discovery at six figures and delivered slide decks, large systems integrators that transitioned engagements to offshore delivery after the pitch, and offshore-only shops where time-zone and language friction ate the rate savings. There was a gap in the middle — a firm that would staff senior US engineers, sign fixed-price scopes, and stay in the same time zone as the client. We built that firm. Headquartered in NYC, delivering across the US, no offshore delivery.

// team

Our team

Leadership roles that touch every engagement. Individual engineer profiles are shared with clients during scoping — we don't publish them here to protect our engineers from recruiter outreach.

Founder & CEO

Delivery oversight, engineering leadership

Background in full-stack engineering and consulting. Has led delivery for financial services and professional services clients across NYC and the broader US market. Sets the technical bar and owns the vendor-selection escalation path when clients need a second opinion.

Head of Delivery

Client engagements, staffing quality

Runs the delivery organization end-to-end: scoping, staffing, engagement health, and swap-outs. Every client has a direct line to delivery leadership — not to an account manager who routes tickets to a delivery team they've never met.

Head of Engineering

Engineering standards, vetting, principal reviews

Owns the hiring bar and the technical review process. Sits in on the final round of every senior engineer hire and personally reviews architecture proposals for engagements above a specified scope threshold.

Account Executive, NYC

Scoping conversations, proposals

First point of contact for new engagements. Backgrounds in operations consulting and enterprise software sales; not a commission-only cold caller. Runs scoping conversations jointly with a delivery lead so proposals reflect what can actually be built.

// why onshore

Why onshore

Onshore delivery costs more per engineer-hour than offshore. That's the honest starting point. Offshore rates from reputable vendors run roughly one-third to one-half of comparable US rates, and for well-specified, low-risk, asynchronous work, offshore is a reasonable choice.

Onshore wins on three specific vectors. Time-zone overlap: financial and professional services firms run on same-day response — a compliance question at 10am NYC that gets answered at 11pm from Bangalore is a workflow interruption, not a time-shifted advantage. Contract and jurisdiction:IP terms, NDAs, and data-processing agreements are enforceable in US courts against US entities in a way they simply are not against offshore contractors — vendor-risk reviews at broker-dealers, wealth managers, and regulated firms surface this every time. Communication density: a two-week discovery with senior US engineers who speak the client's regulatory and business language natively produces a better scope than eight weeks of translated requirements.

The place onshore loses honestly: predictable, well-specified builds where budget is the dominant constraint. If that describes the work, an offshore vendor is a defensible choice and we'll say so on the call.

// who we work with

Who we work with

Our engagement profile is deliberately narrow. NYC and greater US firms in financial services (broker-dealers, wealth managers, fintech, capital markets tooling) and professional services (law firms, accounting practices, management consulting, tax and audit technology). Firm size 10–500 employees with a defined operating partner or CTO who can direct the engagement day-to-day. Buyers are typically COO, CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Operations, or an operating partner in a PE-backed portfolio company.

We are not a fit for consumer marketplaces, VC-stage pre-seed experiments, or engagements where the primary buyer is marketing rather than engineering or operations.

// numbers

Our numbers

Only numbers we can back with published data. Client-satisfaction scores and retention rates are shared during vendor-selection on request; we don't publish them publicly because comparable-basis scoring across small firms is noisy and we'd rather not mislead.

Frequently asked questions

How do you vet engineers?
Every engineer we place goes through the same four-step screen: résumé and reference check against verified employers, a paid take-home in the stack they'd work in (React, Python, .NET, or the relevant language), a live 90-minute technical interview with a principal engineer, and a values/communication interview with delivery leadership. Roughly one in twelve applicants makes it through. We do not use outsourced technical screening services and we do not white-label offshore contractors — every engineer we send is on our W-2 or a long-term direct US contract.
Where is your team located?
Headquartered in New York City with engineers distributed across the US — primarily NYC, Boston, Austin, Chicago, Denver, and the Bay Area. Every engineer is US-based and works US business hours. We do not have offshore delivery centers, offshore contractors, or nearshore partners embedded in delivery.
How do engagements typically start?
First call is a 30-minute scoping conversation with a delivery lead — not a sales rep. If the fit looks right, we send a written proposal within 3 business days: staff-augmentation rate card and profiles, or a fixed-price statement of work for project engagements. Standard start time from signed agreement is 10–14 days for staff aug and 2–3 weeks for full-stack builds. All engagements begin with a written scope; we don't work on handshake terms.
Are there industries you don't serve?
Yes. We do not take work in gambling, adult content, weapons, or crypto trading infrastructure. We also decline work where the primary deliverable is regulatory arbitrage, and work that requires ITAR/EAR-controlled data handling — we don't have the clearance program to do that responsibly. We are selective about healthcare engagements involving direct clinical decision-making and defer to clinical-safety specialists when the risk profile requires it.
